The Online Journalism Labservatory is aiming for the thorough and systematic study of online journalism in Cyprus. It seeks to create a comprehensive and dynamic database on contemporary journalistic activity and production. The achievement of this main objective requires the modelling of the empirical data in conjunction with relevant international research. This enables the comparative analysis and discussion of online journalism in Cyprus in relation to other journalisms, in different cultural, economic, political and social contexts. As such, the Labservatory is an important asset in the effort to expand international research collaborations for comparative studies in the field of journalism in the digital age.

At the same time, the Online Journalism Labservatory strengthens the channels of interdisciplinary cooperation between researchers. It provides access to thematically and analytically categorized, primary media content that falls within the research interests of other disciplines beyond Journalism and Media studies, such as Discourse Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Education, Psychology, European Studies, etc.

The Online Journalism Labservatory is a project funded by the University of Cyprus and the Department of Social & Political Sciences
